There’s nothing quite like a family session with young kids to keep things lively! Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing the Monk family in the beautiful Styal Woods. Known for its stunning trails and vibrant greenery, this Cheshire gem is one of my favorite locations for family photography sessions. With the natural light filtering through the trees and the wide-open spaces, Styal Woods was the perfect backdrop for this shoot’s energetic vibe.

The Monk family brought along their two young boys, who added a playful, chaotic energy to the session. Kids have a unique way of reminding us to embrace spontaneity, and these boys did just that! Running, exploring, and just being themselves, they allowed me to capture moments full of life and joy. Instead of trying to pose too much, I let them lead the way, capturing candid shots that truly reflect their personalities.

To add some depth and drama to the portraits, I used flash for a few key shots. This technique helped the family stand out against the lush woodland background, bringing a modern touch to their classic family photos. The mix of natural light and flash added variety to their album, blending candid action shots with stunning, more composed portraits.
